What color season am I?

Your color season comes from three things: whether your undertone is warm or cool, whether your coloring is light or deep, and whether it is bright or soft. Answer those three and you can narrow 12 color seasons to one or two. The quickest way to find your color season is the free 12-question test on this page; the most precise is a photo report.

Question 1 of 12

In daylight, what color are the veins on your inner wrist?

Look without a lamp on, arm relaxed.

Find your color season in three questions

  1. 1

    Warm or cool?

Gold or silver, cream or pure white, peach or pink blush. Warm points to a Spring or Autumn color season, cool to Summer or Winter. Undecided? Do the undertone test.

  2. 2

    Light or deep?

Very light hair and skin point to a Light color season; dark hair or eyes and black that looks sharp on you point to a Deep one.

  3. 3

    Bright or soft?

Clear, sparkling eyes and high contrast point to a Bright color season; blended, low-contrast coloring and compliments in dusty shades point to a Soft one.

Your strongest trait names your color season

Most people are strong in one of the three traits and milder in the others. The strongest trait names your color season and the second one picks its family. Read the table across: mostly soft and slightly cool is a Soft Summer; mostly deep and slightly warm is a Deep Autumn.

Common color season mix-ups

  • Summer or Winter: both are cool color seasons. If black and pure white look harsh, you are likely a Summer; if pastels wash you out, likely a Winter.
  • Soft Summer or Soft Autumn: both are muted. Gold that looks yellow on you suggests Soft Summer; silver that looks grey suggests Soft Autumn.
  • Deep Autumn or Deep Winter: both are deep. Rust and olive that glow suggest Autumn; jewel tones and pure white suggest Winter.
  • Why does everyone get Summer online? Indoor photos and cool screens desaturate faces, which reads as soft and cool. Daylight fixes most of it.

Check your color season in a mirror

Once you have a likely color season, hold one color from its palette and one from the runner-up color season under your chin in daylight. The right one evens your skin and brightens your eyes. Every season palette lists best colors, neutrals and colors to avoid to make this easy.

FAQ

Questions people ask

What color season am I if I look good in orange?

Orange suits warm color seasons: True and Bright Spring wear clear orange and coral, True and Deep Autumn wear rust and burnt orange, Soft Autumn wears muted terracotta. If orange makes you look tired, you are probably a cool color season.

Can my color season change?

Your undertone does not change, but depth and contrast can shift with grey hair, a tan or age, which can move you to a neighbouring color season. Re-check after a big change in hair color.

Can I be between two color seasons?

Yes, many people sit near a border. Wear the colors your two color seasons share near your face; our results always name a runner-up for that reason.

Do I need a photo to find my color season?

No. The free test works from your answers. A photo report adds precision when the test leaves two color seasons close.
